Pyjama Party Villa Noailles

SPACE - Pyjama Party
Finalist Project of the interior architecture competition Design Parade 2026
Exhibited at Villa Noailles, France, Summer 2026

Occupying a never shown to the public artist room whithin the Villa Noailles, this Pyjama Party takes the form of a soft, luminous, and enveloping architecture-furniture installation. Inspired by memories of a childhood summer in Provence, it brings together local crafts and question regional identity while playing with oversized furniture that evokes surrealism and a child’s perspective. These elements compose a domestic and vernacular landscape, reinterpreted as an inviting and emotionally resonant map.

At the heart of the project are the Indiennes d’Arles textiles, a pattern tradition renowned worldwide, here completly redrawn from 18th century archives and experienced fully through immersion in a striking solar yellow. The pattern becomes a space to inhabit; the colour, a celebration to be shared.

The woven furniture seems to mark a threshold leading to the Pyjama Party. The view from the sofa area is designed to be enjoyed from both sides: one direction takes our gaze outwards, whilst the other invites us to enjoy a refreshing orangeade in red Biot stemmed glasses. The Provençal spirit is everywhere, right down to the tiles sourced from Salernes’ end-of-stock selection: in Provence, we build and compose with what we have.

Seen from a child’s perspective, the proportions subvert the usual scales and blend different worlds. The sofa thus becomes a soft, inviting space to relax in, encouraging daydreaming. The ‘Terrasse’ tables, with their removable tops and inspired by the outdoor space, are integrated directly into the seating.

Maurice, the straw teddy bear, has been created in collaboration with the artist Emma Bruschi.

As you enter the room, the valet offers pyjamas in surreal sizes and Fragonard perfumes with the scents of Provence. On the edge of the shelf, the ‘Nesteris’ vase by artist Thomas Noui celebrates the region’s colours with a finish made from Luberon sand.

The art of perfumery comes to life on the wall thanks to the glasswork of Incalmo Glass Studio. The ‘L’Enfleurage’ diffuser bottle, designed in collaboration, pays homage to the traditional Grasse technique of extracting delicate scents. Inside, the jasmine fills the room with its fragrance and transports us to a summer dream.
